Paint stripper Nice not!

Well some nice person poured the contents of their nitromorse paint stripper all over my car two weekends ago. Fortunately for this individual I didn't catch him. The car needs a full respray and will be returning in the colour blue Rising blue from the golf r. Looks like the bill will be in and around two thousand pounds or so for this, I hope my insurance doesn't write my car off because of this. Glad I have protected bonus. Just didn't need this that's for sure.

Motherf....s! Where the hell did you leave it parked up Sandy? And the entire car?! I feel for you, I really do I've been the victim of vandalism in the past (left it parked in Slough for 20 mins, entire side keyed. Never leaving my car there again) although it "only" ended up costing me £350. Daren't claim on the insurance when that happened (Was 21 and only had 2 years NCD).

I'm really sorry to hear about this, hope you manage to sort it out. I take it insurance is taking care of all of this? I'm just worried there's a chance it could be written off - £2k is a lot. On the other hand, rising blue would look sweet - I've seen a Lupo repsprayed in that colour and it was stunning. You've worked in insurance before haven't you? Protected NCD worth it? I just renewed mine (23 yo, 4 years NCD), but didn't protect my NCD. I'm already paying too much (£700).

I would implode if someone did that to my car. I heard a few case of people on this forum having paint stripper/acid thrown on their car.

Not sure how you feel about having your car wrapped but you can have your car wrapped that colour for about 800 quid professionally.

Just a thought.

Car done! Quoted me 795 to get a full polo wrapped any colour and you can also have another colour added e.g. A matte white car with a carbon roof, door handles etc.

Would make your car look very unique! Have a think buddy.

Depending on the year they will probably write it off mate, paintstripper vandalism cases often end up this way

Highly recommend avoiding any wrapping companies. I work in the paint trade and have seen some horror stories, and I work on rolls Royce and bentleys lol! Those bastards really need to be unfortunately cut...... Worse thing you can do to a car it sucks...!

s**t like this really pisses me of i sometimes think why do i bother having a nice car?! on the way to the gym one night and someone didnt see where it came from randomly through a brick on my bonnet! little c**t lucky i didnt see as i would have ran them over!

The car has been written off. I am totally disgusted at the fact some idiot can think it is an achievement to damage my car because they have an altercation with my son. Shame they didn't have the bottle to knock on my door to vent their anger.

Anyway I am now in the process of locating parts to return my car to its former glory. So far I have located the tailgate, passenger door and rear bumper just need front bumper and bonnet now. Once the parts are all fitted I will get the roof painted and that will be it complete again.

Thanks to all who commented on this thread. I will keep the post updated as the damage is repaired.

Was it someone you (your son) "knew" then?

I take it you're buying it back Sandy? I would have done the same. What parts are you looking for and what colour? Shame I didn't live closer, would be up for a scrapyard trawl and helping you restore the car.

As you need a front bumper and bonnet, have you considered doing a 9n3 front end swap?

Cheers Ash for the offer. Glad to see there are still nice people out there. I bought the car back at a snip and have already sourced a tailgate which was it great condition along with a rear bumper again minted. Had to travel to Birmingham though. The colour I need is mercato blue paint code la5m. Still need a driver's door, bonnet and passenger door, I may have the passenger door sorted though after a phone call tomorrow.
The tailgate is on fitted it myself and it was fairly straight forward just removed my loom and fitted the loom that came with the tailgate. Plus side I can now open the boot with out the need to use my key. I will post some pictures soon. Cheers Sandy
