Boot open/closed switch 6n2

Post by NickGTI »

The boot open light was flickering on my dash board last night while i was driving, only very dim though, which leads me to think theres a dodgy connection in the boot open/closed switch on the boot. does anyone know were abouts this switch is? on the catch or where ever? cheers.

mine was doing the same thing. the switch is in the boot catch so i squirted some wd40 into the catch and opened and close dthe latch by hand a couple of times and all is good again.

you've got water in the connections on the lock, spraying it with WD will only delay the inevitable death.

When this happens you can either replace it or more commonly, just unplug the sensor.

Took the advice of "rover220" and set about sorting this issue tonight...., so after work- boot trim off, found the wire going to the switch, disconnected it, lashed both connections with AC90 (wd40 really) plugged and unplugged a few times to get the AC90 rubbing between the connecting pins and left for a while. the flickering light on the dash gradually appeared less and less....half an hour later it had dissapeared and have not seen it since! noticed that leaving the plug disconnected meant there was no light, *beared this in mind* yet like to keep things right lol! cheers!

Glad it's sorted. Despite the pesimism from others.

It's not me being pessimistic, It's me being a realist.

There's a large difference between the two.

And your quite clearly god like when it comes to mechanical and electrical work. I've only read a couple of your posts and it's clear you have a chip on your shoulder and are holier than thou!
