A tale of 2 swaps, a GTI story!

Post by steviedubs »

hi y'all been skulking around in the shadows for ages on here just reading threads and the such and thought it about time i did a thread! lol

sooo my first polo was a dragon green 6n that started off life as a 1.4 8v and after a coulple years of ownership decided to do 16v conversion on it

pics;

when i first got it...

conversion....

how it stood when i swapped it.......

so after running the 16v for year and a bit i fancied a 6n2 so did a swap with a lad on club polo for his red 6n2 1.4 8v

got bored of this veeery quickly as it'd been stripped out and was noisy as hell! lol

so after abit of searching i ended up finding atotally standard silver 6n2 GTI, so gave him a cheeky asked if he wanted to do a swap and to my surprise he said yes! so i though wooop woop super swap shop or what!

so after a couple months of standard driving i decided to get to fettling with as not standing out too boring! haha

so heres my GTI as it stands now all mods and such have been done by my fair hand and im quite happy with it......for now

all comments welcome!

Cheers Stevie

Very Nice Stevie

Like what you have done with it so far, your old 6N looked pretty sweet too

Nice to see another "V" plate GTI on here too, very rare indeed :)

Nice mate, like what you have done with it so far. I need to do my headlining soon in the same colour. Looks so much better!

Cheers, are they? What makes em rare?

Yeah the black headlining makes the interior a 100x better, like the GTI should of been! It's a fair bit of work with the retrimming and spraying the plastics and door seals black but it's well worth it!

I agree, the paint looks mint!

The 'V plates' were the first of the GTi's to come out of the factory.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Welcome 8)

I got a tad excited when I seen the ATS cups on the 6n, hoping they would be on the GTI..... then they weren't. Lol

So I've found a metal polishing company at Sowerby Bridge that'll mirror polish all four for £120, so that'll be a job for after Xmas so there ready for summer!

The headlining was quite cheap to do, onlycost £15 for material and £5 for spray adhesive!
Got the seat belts for the bargain price of £50 aswell!
