3 Door Seat handle trouble

Post by Jollus »

Hey guys,

I lifted my seat forward the other day with the handle on the side and the handle came off in my hand. No damage to the handle so I wrapped tape around it to be sure of no splits or weakness. When i pop it back on and lift the handle again the handle just comes off in my hand.

What can I do to get the handle to stay on the metal prong so it will stay there when popping the seat backwards and forwards?

Many thanks,

Joll

Think its something like the lip inside the handle which will be buggered, not sure if its repairable or would be a case of a new one. Good excuse not to give lifts anyway

Is there a bent metal clip on the outermost end of the metal lever on these? If so, is it in place, or wedged inside the handle?

Replacement handle'll be cheap from the dealer.

Are you sure the handle hasn't cracked (even ever so slightly)? They're not that expensive from the dealers. Around £5 I would have thought.

Yeah the handle piece where it clips onto the metal prong has a very small crack in it and there is a piece of the metal prong stuck in the handle. Ill try and super glue it and see if this works.

If not and I need a new handle; what about the metal bit that's broken inside the handle? Wont the metal prong in the seat need to be replaced as-well as the handle?

Don't superglue it, as if something else in the mechanism is bolloxed up, you'll be screwed. For the sake of a fiver, I'd get a new one.
