Squeaky rattle around handbrake area

Post by NickP »

Had this pretty severe rattle for a while, it's intermittent. Whenever I take it to the garage for something else they never sort it out. Pissing me off now!

It seems to be worse at high speed when going round a fast bend. At first I thought it was coming from the back but I think it might be the handbrake / seat area. Can't tell if it's inside or out, it kind of speaks and rattles at the same time.

Anyone got any ideas what it might be?

Cheers.

Did you change your exhaust any time recently?

I was thinking the same, could be the exhaust bracket where the centre section goes into the CAT.

Had a similar problem with my old GTI but it just turned out to be a broken exhaust bracket

Not saying it’s definitely that but it’s a possibility

Not been changed for a while. I suppose I need to get under the car then and have a look! The cat is probably around the area where the noise is so it sounds feasible.
