6R Polo GTI hybrid WMI project

looking good
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
^^Cheers^^
I need to set a few targets.
I'm looking for 0-60mph in under 5 seconds.
0-100mph in under 13.5 seconds and a sub 14 second 1/4 mile.
These times hopefully should be achievable with the mods I already have and would put the car on par with some modded ED30 times.
Also.....I think a sub 8 min 30 second B to G of the Nurburgring should be achievable too.

Whilst bored I knocked up some comparison graphs and separated torque from power. These were all done on the same dyno. The overall area under the graph is the important thing and shows how the power/torque delivery changes as the tuning progresses.
POWER

TORQUE

The difference on power and torque delivery from stock to mapped is phenomenal, at some points the difference between mapped and stock is 70bhp on power and at other points up to 150lbft more on torque

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Another performance box update. Done with the first half on the flat and then a kink to a slightly uphill second half. Brave pill swallowed, dry start with damp patches. Had to brake just before the 1/4 mile mark, otherwise I would have run out of available surface.
0-100mph with another consistent 0-60mph

1/4 mile time - this was only just achieved and I was braking before the end of it. Remember this wasn't a bang straight run and the whole of the second half was uphill. If I had the room then I reckon probably a 102mph terminal would have been about right and if it had all been straight and flat, who knows?

So, I guess I need to adjust my targets a little!!

Need a few more targets already .......Hurdy wrote:

Where do you stand in warrenty, have you voided it? Im looking into getting mine a miltek and revo map just worried about the oil issues... is yours drinking oil and spraying it out the pipes?Warranty will be void on the ECU and obviously all the bits I've swapped off the car too. My car is now at 1,700 miles and I haven't put a drop in it since swapping to Mobil 1 at 200 miles. I ran the car in hard (warmed up first though) as per most motorsport cars as this is the best way to bed in the piston rings efficiently and it has paid off dividends. The Mobil 1 oil is fully synthetic 0W40 instead of 5W30 which means it protects immediately and has a slightly higher viscosity, so is slightly harder to push through the piston rings anyway.
Aghh I see im looking at getting mine done, revo map, miltek etc any issues with clutch slip now or overtime do you no of?

The device is Made by Racelogic and called a Performance Box. It is GPS based for timing and accurate to 0.1 seconds and 10cm in every 400m and to 0.1mph/kph.ErkoSlo wrote:What is this device, name?

It is too early to tell on mine, but so far the car is performing brilliantly. I would like to get a DSG map on the car as soon as one is developed, just for peace of mind as on my ED30 the REVO DSG map was phenomenally good.POLOGTI2011 wrote:Hurdy wrote:Yes the REVO map is the standard stage 2 map on setting B.POLOGTI2011 wrote:Blimey! A couple of small mods today
A Mini "Fast" has found its way onto my dash

And the red GTI badge.

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
So, here is a bit of an explanation of why I ended up with the Polo GTI............
The graph below shows my acceleration curve in comparison with four other performance cars. The lower the line on the graph the faster it is.
As you can see it isn't until 130-140kph that even the 395bhp Golf would get to the same speed as my Polo GTI. However, because I would have accelerated faster up to that point my car would be further ahead of the Golf at the point they are at the same speed. The Focus doesn't even get to the same speed as my Polo until 160kph (100mph).

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
He he, nice one Hurdy, I know exactly which article you're comparing it to:)
I've spoken to Guy at Harding performance, aka APR Australia and stage 3 for polo gti is under development, the stage 2 is still being finalised which is intercooler, exhaust etc. Stage 3 will include a hybridised turbo setup so there will be another jump in power but from what I can gether, it's fundamentally about getting the power down by implementing the LSD and upgraded DSG clutch packs. I will be interested to see how far you take this little weapon of yours Hurdy because as you say, it already wastes the golf GTI running stage 2....
:):) 1189kgs isn't much mass to push around with nigh on 200kw and yet still retain creature comforts:)

Nice one Hurdy...now we know that the words "Pocket Rocket" do make sense for this car
Cant wait to get mine on Tuesday.
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Impressive Hurdy
I am truly amazed how much performance these little cars can generate, makes me realise, I bought the right car

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Cheers guys,
A decision on intercooler is next, but my options are quite good for these and I'm just holding on for the Forge intercooler at the moment.
I'm looking at having the plate diff fitted that is made by these chaps.... http://www.sqsracing.com/
I'm undecided on the ramp as there are various schools of thought as to which is the best to have.
DSG map should be starting development early next year and two tuners are looking into it.
After that it will be water/meth and then see if the fueling hardware can keep up. Intensive logging FTW here I think.
If all is well then it will be a hybrid/big turbo conversion and some wider extra sticky rubber to cope with it all.
Into the 12's is the target on a 1/4 mile, so quite a way to go yet.
