removing wing mirror

all the laquer has come off my wing mirror so im getting it painted by a freind tomorrow.just wondering how you get the colour coded part of the mirror off??

The wing mirror cap should just pull off, might take a bit of a wiggle just to get if off as its probably been there for a good 10 years. But it shouldn't be to hard

They are a pain to get off mine was rattling so I superglued them
