Thanks hurdy for the pdf
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Water/meth now being fitted in January.
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Booked myself on a 30mph to 130mph day at RAF Marham in March!!
Dunno what I was thinking, but here's hoping I can get the young girl to 130mph before she runs out of runway
Should be more about the banter though as there's all sorts of motors going.....1000bhp Scooby anyone?

If he can get a pass and hasn't been before it should be a great day out if you are into big bhp cars (mine excepted
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Well,
Booked in on Monday for the Water/Meth system Fitted. Gone for a Devil's Own system as it is simple and effective. The bottle and pump will be located in the boot next to the battery and will mean that there will be little evidence that it is even fitted apart from the injection point under the bonnet.
a 50/50 mix should give around 20-25whp extra on Revo Stage 2 setting "C" - race fuel only.
Effectively bhp should be somewhere between 260-270bhp.....fingers crossed!!!!
With the planned weight reductions in place this would mean around 235-245bhp/ton, which is just shy of my 250bhp/ton target.
Daily the car will run with either just water or water/meth mix on setting B.
After this I'll be off to Autosport International to interrogate tyre manufacturers for a set of decent semi-slicks to get the power down effectively.

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
A few questions about running a water/meth system. Does the water have to be distilled or will tap water do? What about methanol, probably a stupid question but where do you get it, how expensive is it and how long between refills? How is it stored? I assume it's not flammable like petrol etc? I am planning to have my car mapped and brought to stage 2 spec but without a switchable controller, if the car was setup for meth/water would it have to be run all the time? Thanks

Distilled water - ensures the water has no impurities to clog up the nozzle/s

eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=m ... &_osacat=0
How expensive is it?
See link to eBay
How long between refills?
With a progressive kit fitted you will only use it on throttle which can be set how you want it and in day to day driving if you stay under half throttle you won't use any, but if you are racing then you can do a gallon mix in a day (2.5ltrs of meth and 2.5 ltrs of water)
How is it stored?
Generally you would buy it in smaller amounts in bottles and then transfer the meth to another larger bottle and mix with distilled water and simply keep it in the larger container.
I assume it's not flammable like petrol etc?
Methanol is flammable, but if you mix it straight away with water it is soluble and then isn't flammable.

You can still use water/meth on a normal map that doesn't depend on it to be safe. You will see less gains in power, but will still gain from the higher octane it gives and the cooling too. On our motors on a normal map I would think that another 5-10 whp (7-12bhp) would be reasonable. If you map to the water/meth using a high octane race map then you would need to run it all the time when on throttle.
Here are a couple of links that will help you find out more.

Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Errr, Water/meth nearly fitted, finishing it off tomorrow as I've been a bit finickety with where I want the intall to go and it's taken a bit more time than anticipated
Looking nice and neat so far though and Statllers have been brilliant again.

cool that will be mate
Re: 6R Polo GTI stage 2 project
Here is a quick photo of the rear install for the Polo GTI. The pump is gravity fed from the bottle and so has to have it's intake point below the bottle bottom. Luckily on the Polo the boot section is very deep and allows for this. Full credit to Statllers as they made a really neat job of the install and pipework.
Still not fully installed yet as I'm having a custom pipe fitted to house the injector and it has to be fabricated first.
