Verity's Reflex Silver GTI - Clutch, Photos, and Piggy

Post by nigelelliott394 »

Car looks really well :) hopefully funds allow me to get my car to the standard I'd like but there's always something else crops up preventing me from doing so. You've done a great job with it though :) you should be proud!

I always thought you had a rear aero wiper though?

I find that to, I try and save for certain things to do the car, then something else pops up thats more important.
thank you very much Nigel! im really happy with him now....except for when my credit card bill comes thru the post each month

no sadly not, but very similar pattern tho! so i can see why you thought so, theyre Toyo Proxes, not the cheapest tyre i found but still pretty cheap lol, my tyre budget wasnt very big lol

Thank you Ben :D
:) Eddies getting lots more carbon soon, just in the process of fitting a load of new bits (all goes way over my head, but theres like an uprated fuel pump bit from America, and a new massive intercooler, and so on) ready for Revo to get their hands back on the car for Stage 2+. then hopefully by the show season he shall have his carbon bits 8)

4.01.2012 - Stop rattles

Finally got around to finishing stopping any rattles in the car.
didn't manage to get many photos as tbh i know it's not very interesting lol

Put the new door card clips in the passenger door, and tacked up parts of the door, also did parts of the dash, rear doors, and my stealth shelf (about a week into getting the thing the little leg that clips the shelf into place broke off, as the shelf is quite heavy, so just placed a bit of tack along the edge of the plastic to stop the occasion sound)

I need to do this, although going over those stupid yellow warning strips coming into a village it feels like my dash is about to land on my lap

Happy 11th Birthday Polo :)

My aim was to get my List of Things to Do completed by the 09.01.12 which is the date my little polo was first registered :)

Here's how it went....

Paintwork

• Sort out Stone chip on Bonnet DONE
• Stone chip on Front Bumper   DONE
• Marks on Rear Bumper   DONE
• Re-spray Washer Jet Cover   DONE

Exterior

• Buy New Fog Lights (depending on price- may have to wait until my birthday as im sure these things are pretty pricey   ) Waaay to costly to bother with
• Buy New Indicator light housing DONE
• Protection film on the new lights (the same as what I put on my headlights)
• Buy New Rear Wiper Arm
• MkV Golf GTI Grill Badge   DONE

Interior

• Stop any Dash/Door rattles (Using the Black Tac from VW) DONE
• Buy New Door Rubbers (those little bits that are in the bend of the door) DONE
• Buy Door Stop DONE
• Buy New Door Card Clips DONE  & Foam Not needed in the end as the original did not get damaged when changing the door stop
• Buy Looms for New Window Switches Still waiting on some looms to be found. Jack is adamant that I’m not to pay for the looms brand new as there’s a massive box of looms out the back of work, it’s just a matter of finding the right one
• Buy Sun visor Vanity Lights (Depending on Price, may have to be a Birthday present to me) Birthday / summer
• Buy Sun visor Vanity Light looms ("  ") Birthday / summer
• Buy Rear Interior Light looms (will get if I get the Vanity Lights as I’ll do it all at once) Birthday / summer
• Buy Passat Chrome Light Switch Birthday / summer

Engine Bay

• New Engine Cover
• Polish Manifold Cover
• Strip Rocker Cover Paint
• Re Paint Rocker Cover
• Buy New Engine Blanket
• Buy New Nuts and Bolts (I want some funky coloured one a mate has in his honda track car)
• Buy New Engine Bay Stickers DONE
• Buy Plastic cover that goes over the VIN

Due to funds the Engine Bay will have to wait a while.
Will be buying a 1.4 engine cover rather then a 1.6 one, as it's slightly different and I think will look better.
Defiantly getting the Rocker Cover powder coated, as well as having a number of parts dipped, thanks to some contacts, I think it's gonna be a case of everyone getting as much done at one go to share the cost, situation  [b/]

Brakes

• Unsieze Calipers DONE
• Strip and Re Paint Calipers
don't quite know why I havnt got around to doing this yet :/

Suspension

• Coilovers DONE
• Wheel Bearings DONE
• CV Joint End DONE
• Anti-Roll Bar Bushes DONE
• Track Rod Ends DONE
• Lower Arm Bushes DONE

+  +  +  +  +

• Strut Top   DONE
• Bolts and Nuts DONE

Clutch

• New Clutch [including Cable]   DONE

Wheels & Tires

• Tires DONE

Bulbs

• Silver Indicator Bulbs DONE
• Silver Repeater Bulbs DONE
• New Side Light Bulbs
• Fog light Bulbs

Detail

• The Full works (http://www.distinctdetailing.co.uk ;) ) Will be leaving this for the Spring /Summer time

 Extra
• Stubby Drivers Wing mirror DONE – This was on my ‘List of Things to Do; The Final Touches’ but due to sucky circumstances ended up having to do it sooner rather then later

So I didn't complete the list *boo*
But at least I got quite a bit done

I'm hoping thatll be it for a while and I can concentrate on paying my credit card back, and getting some fun things done on the car..... Tho my fancy goldfish need a new tank, and my iPhone no longer works as a phone, so a few other things may have to come first for a bit

As some of you will already know, he is getting SORN for a few weeks.
My insurance runs out on the 15th of this month and I cant afford to start a new policy and I don't want to stay with my current insurers.
Plus due to my wingmirror fiasco 2 years of my NCB is being held hostage for 3 months, as it takes this long for a claim to be shut down....even tho I didn't claim.
So technically  I only have 2 years no claims until the 2nd March.

It's my birthday on the 1st of March so I'm going to try and make it my aim to get him back on the road fully within the first week of the month - A birthday present to myself lol

.....and as for a 11th birthday present for GerTI .....

Swappsies with a mate who had them lying around.
I only got my current set of RXIIs as a winter set so didn't care much for the condition.
But I spotted these in the corner of a mates unit and fell in love.
They are mint condition, just need to be put back together and have the dust cleaned off them.

The colour is gorgeous and theres something about the sparkliness I love. They should look amazing in proper natural light with the sun shining on them :D
