What Brake Fluid?

Right, I am a novice with this and honestly I find it a bit embarrassing.
The car is a 9n 1.2s AWY 40kw.

What (dot) brake fluid shall I use?
An apology if this is ridiculously simple.

Various sources say Dot 4, can anyone shine some light or confirm this.

For some strange reason, I have always just used VAG sourced brake fluid - maybe the price is okay or something, though I "think" that it is DOT4 - maybe check your handbook.

near enough all modern motors use dot4 old motors used to use dot3, and there is also dot5 which is like a racing spec with a higher boilng point... so yeah youre fine with dot4

(there is a bit more to it than just my summary but im just trying to keep it simple lol)

Had a look in the handbook, nothing there.
However, found it (Dot 4) on the reservoir cap.
