Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
ITG Intake + Milltek Turboback system + Remap = around 240bhp and 360+nm. A +- 60bhp/110+nm gain, that's going to be pretty noticeable.

Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
Now that sounds like the sort of thing I'm after. Perfect, thanks
A massive torque increase, didn't expect it to be that much

Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
I have been reading through it with interest, very nice car. Personally I prefer the silver VW badges and OEM BBS Monzas, but the rest of the mods I like very much so
I'm going to order one of the Milltek turbo-back exhausts, an ITG induction kit, and have been looking at either AMD or Revo for the re-map. Is your exhaust the one with sports cat, or the de-cat option? Is there any noticeable difference, except for hassle with MOTs etc.? Could I bolt on the bits then go straight to a stage 2 map too, or do I have to go via stage 1? Would I need an intercooler upgrade for a stage 2 map?
I will probably upgrade to the Volkswagen racing springs and anti-roll bars at a later date, then possibly uprated brakes after that too.
Cheers

Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
I thought the VW racing springs were actually just GTi springs, no?
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
I'm not sure, but I don't think they are.
This is the email VWR sent me:
"We have just finalised a range of parts for the 6R Polo GTI.
What we have is (all prices including VAT):
· VWR Sport Springs - £240.00
· VWR Rear Exhaust - £576.00
· VWR Air Filter - £96.00
· VWR Front Anti Roll Bar - £240.00
· Remap - £599.00
Hope that’s of help – we now have stock of all of this so could supply/fit at any time.

"
I later found out via another forum that the exhaust is Milltek, and apparently VWR just use other companies products and charge a premium. Not so sure how true it is, but it definitely is on the exhaust.

Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
Whats the VWR exhaust though, just a cat back?
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
I think so, I can't see it being turbo-back for that price.
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
Yes it is a catback system. The pics shown are of my exhaust on Blaade's old GTI. I have the full TBE system and on Milltek's website the full system is over £1k + VAT.
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
Personally I would go with a Revo remap. Revo have had a few 1.4TSI's themselves and have done intensive development to ensure that the remap is actually SAFER than the OEM map. Also you need to fit NGK BKR7EIX plugs as these are the ones Revo recommend.George H wrote: I'm going to order one of the Milltek turbo-back exhausts, an ITG induction kit, and have been looking at either AMD or Revo for the re-map. My exhaust has a sports cat fitted. There is only a marginal amount of benefit to a decat, but come MOT time it would be a nightmare to remove it and fit a cat section as it sits right up front by the radiator fan.
You don't have to go via stage 1, if you have all the hardware fitted go straight for stage 2.
An intercooler is desirable for stage 2, but not compulsary, you will get more heat saturation without the I/C. Personally I have gone for water/meth to aid cooling.
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
But vwr will keep you're warranty intact
Re: Tuning 6R Polo GTI
Not strictly speaking. But if anything fails that can be directly attributed to any VWR modifications, they will honour whatever the dealer/manufacturer will not.

Thanks, that answers just about everything I needed to knowHurdy wrote:

I will be ordering the bits and pieces shortly, what do you reckon to this intercooler - http://shop.revotechnik.com/products/36 ... negra.aspx, it's for the Seat Ibiza Boccanegra, so I presume it will fit the Polo. Can't really find many others out there, but I've only done a bit of googling, not exactly in depth research. I think I will probably go with the sports cat, I probably won't keep it past 3 years, but I can't be bothered with the hassle.
I'll have a look if there's a Revo place near me too
