9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
If i was to have my genuine vw votex sideskirts cloned into a perfect replica of them out of fibre glass and sell them for 80-100 pounds would anybody be interested in buyin or know anyone whou would be. If i was to do replicas of the whole kit would anyone be interested? everything is the same apart from there not genuine as they are replicas but look and fit the same and the other differance is the price as i would sell them cheaper as what there going for on ebay at the moment (150 a set of skirts) please let me know, I'm open to opinions. Concidering wether to do or not. thank youu

if you made a mould of them, at least you can have the option of (at a later date) making new copy versions in fibre glass. OR if you have the mould you could make it in Carbon Fibre. Carbon Fibre Vortex style front bumper? i think you may have something there..

Re: 9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
Definitely a sound idea there, Votex kits are always in demand and sell quickly, especially as full/near full sets!
9n3 front splitters are also rarely seen and underrated in my opinion, I'd be keen to get hold of one of those!
I'd be tempted to pick up the rest of the set while I'm at it too (the lower bits anyway, i could live without the spoiler)
Is the quoted £80-100 a realistic production cost per unit?

There selling the real votex side skirts on ebay for 150 so i think 80 for a set of fibreglass replicas is a goo price? whole kit for 300 maybe?Ben90 wrote:Definitely a sound idea there, Votex kits are always in demand and sell quickly, especially as full/near full sets!

Re: 9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
Indeed, but remember that genuine kits are already primered and come with adhesive fitting kits, these costs add up and some people pay more for convenience.
I'm certainly not trying to rain on your parade, I still like this idea very much and I'm definitely interested, but rather than working your price down from what ebay are selling, work it from the ground up, consider costs of buying an original set to make moulds (which you can re-sell afterwards), then materials, labour, plus a bit on top for you
and see what kind of figures you come up with

Re: 9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
i could buy a few cans of primer to start off with and do them myself? and if i cant find any adhesive kits or anything maybe show them a link or something, or tell them what to buy and where to find? yeah i will probaly use the original on my own wheels and use a fibreglass set for a mould again as that would be possible.. the labour wont really effect me much as i have a saturday job and my boss knows the fibreglass man who lives about half a mile from my work, and i live about half amile away from my work opposite direction. so if anything i could pass them over to my boss and he could run me down there or sommit i duno see what come across eh. if this takes or ( i mean it becomes a habbit of havin replicas made and buyin boxes ) i may just have to stock up on the boxes and kits??

Re: 9N POLO VOTEX KIT *LOOK*
Sounds like you've got enough on your hands let alone primering! I didn't mean to say that you should primer them yourself, as the buyer will have to take their kit to the bodyshop to get it sprayed in their cars colour anyway, it's just an additional cost to the buyer that the seller should consider when pricing.
That said, 80-100 is a fair price considering how rarely Votex kit appears for sale and I still think you're onto something with this
You should definitely gather enough interest to get the ball rolling.
EDIT: The adhesive kits are available from VW for around £20, and to be fair many genuine votex kits sold secondhand come without adhesive kits anyway.

Carbon sounds cool
Also yer like said - ive bought a few votex bits and not had the fixing kit with it. Besides if you just copy the sideskirt manual put it with it, the kit is only sealent and cleaner - and just goes on with screws.
Think it would be a good idea also as think how common these polos will be in 10 years like the 6n's. Everyone buys em cheap and does em up so id think you could have a big market long term.
