rung my local dealer this morning vw in wigan,they still donot have a date of release for these leds,i even rung vw bury they said the same.

Why couldn't vw of done something similar to this only better. Instead of hacking the bumber and adding a unit higher up?

They're awful. The OEM ones will look fit.. VW bulletin coming shortly

Nope. They're approved for release for the EU market and are currently being approved for the market in the UK. I've been in contact with VW UK who are going to inform me as soon as they're approved in the UK and forward me the official bulletin for these

For an earlier and improved recognition of vehicles, particularly in difficult lighting conditions, the Volkswagen LED daytime running lights make a decisive contribution to the long-term improvement of road traffic safety.

The advantages at a glance
• The new look adds value to your vehicle
• Trim precisely matched to the vehicle and made of UV-resistant material
• Lights which fit the vehicle perfectly with an integrated control unit
• LEDs (22 LEDs per lamp) produce a light beam which is four-times stronger than normal
running lights
• Daytime running lights shorten the reaction time
• Distances to oncoming vehicles can be better judged.
• The difference between stationary, moving and turning vehicles can be
more easily recognised
• Reduction in energy and fuel consumption
• Lights approved according to ECE-R87
Notes for fitting
• Under law, permission is restricted to the use of one set of daytime running lights.
• Where vehicles are already fitted with a set of daytime running lights as standard, this
must on all accounts be de-activated.
• When activating the dipped beam the LED daytime running lights must switch off
automatically.
• The LED daytime running lights may not be lit at the same time as fog lights and/or the
main beam (except when flashing headlights).
• Installation permitted according to ECE-R48
• Installation by a Volkswagen workshop is recommended.

Ouch the term Fobbin ruckers comes to mind They should of offered these as standard. Don't think i will be paying that for them! Would be nice if they actually put a photo up of them. Unless they are still like the ones already on the net

Nice! Thanks for letting us know... I dont see it on IE website yet, but if they wont offer I can make a trip up north to get it done. Just need to see one car done up first and see what it looks like. Are you getting yours soon?
