rear lamps

Post by onlydiesels »

does anyone know if rear lamp seals are available to buy new on their own rather than with the full lamp unit,,mrs car has the dreaded water ingress to the boot and i have sealed them once before..but i think new seals are now the order of the day...also the release handle for tipping the driver`s seat forward came off a long time ago and we`ve still got it but it does`nt go back on very well and it seems that the metal piece which it clips onto has snapped and so is too short for the lever assy to go back on fully...has anyone repaired one or am i looking at a replacement seat ?
just want to get all the little niggly bits done so that she likes the car again..even looked at moving over to the darkside of punto ownership today  but now i`ve seen sense and decided to fix up the polo instead...
i`ve put a post in the wanteds as well cos i need some other bits too...
thanks in advance...

The bulb holder is the only part that has seals...the lamp itself doesn't. Bulb holders can be bought separately from VW. There are actually a few on eBay if you want to have a look.

And don't get a freaking Punto!

One thing, the 2-off retaining lugs and the securing stud should all have closed cell foam "donuts" on them which provide sealing to the rear of the car, I've forgotten if there is gasket there to seal the connector area to the body (as well as the lamp cluster to lens assembly as mentioned earlier).

thanks for the reply fellas, i`ve managed to source the seals from vw, they come as a complete kit for £8.11 which apparently has all the bits you need to seal one lamp,so two kits were ordered today and will be there for collection after 10am tomorrow :D
part no.s are... V6Q0 998 145
...V6Q0 998 146

sorry don`t know which no. relates to which side though,i`ll post up my findings when i get/fit them.
