Thanks mate. Tidy little motor you there yourself. I have played with engine alot over the years even one out of you GTI and i havd made my mistakes and learnt lots along the way. Not much to it to be honest. But that's because I comfortable with whati doing now. Plus I am good friends with the guy at JNL racing so anything I'm unsure of I ask him or get him to give me a hand.

Hopefully have a chat with you at GTI International if your going and on the stand?

Small update.

As mentioned previously i needed to order the head bolt tool which arrived mid week.

Image

So having finished work early today and knowing i couldn't visit the garage this weekend i popped down there for a couple hours tonight and whipped the head off

Image

I mentioned before about the block I got had scores in the bores and after having the block honed and rebuilt i still wasn't 100% happy so started stripping my block ready to send off for boring so it perfect. JP @ JNL Racing did advise me to do this so thought i i better listen as he is the professional and i don't want to have to do a job twice.

Just need to remove the crank next time i'm in the garage and then the block is ready for boring and painting. Only 42k on the clock and look at the state of the block already. VW need to use better paint when building their engines.
Once this is done i will transfer all the bits over from the block i have already done and start getting the engine all back together.

Quote from the other half today when i was in the garage
"Why have you taken the engine out there was nothing wrong with your car. How long you going to be?"

more soon if i can get in the garage anytime over the weekend although i sure that will p*** the other half off

Just a hobby

I work in an office Monday to Friday.

I hope so. Feedback I have had on these hybrids is great so I can't wait 8)

Lots of respect for doing this to your car :) Wanting to do similar to mine when i get it this year!

So a hybrid turbo is a half a k03 and half k04 right? How does this make it better? Im not that knowledgeable on turbos yet :(

Thanks man. Yeah it's has RS6 k04 internals a k03 housing so you can still use the same down pipe and boost pipes etc.
You will find the standard turbo runs out of puff at around 5000 rpm this hybrid however will pull to the redline

Ah i see :) Sounds like a good plan! But why not just upgrade to the k04? Because you'd have to change the down pipe and boost pipes?

That's right. Wouldn't be able to use my Milltek down pipe. And would have to reroute the boost pipes and possibly change the forge intercooler.

Fair enough :) One last question sorry ha just want to understand this properly. Because you will still have the k03 housing instead of the k04, will that restrict the turbos performance in any way? Because the k04 will have a bigger housing...
