So the topic came up on another forum and after some googling there are indeed companies that are willing to tune our engines 86ps to 98ps +10nm.
Price is kinda cheap (like $250 or $300 if you want to re-check on dino-stand) but will it actually be noticeable?
Also rumor has it they are bringing our euro-4 emission to euro-2 while doing it.
Anyone done it?

Re: Chip tuning 1.4i, worth it?
would chip tuning void the warranty?
Re: Chip tuning 1.4i, worth it?
Chip-tuning is "software" tuning. I am pretty sure you can revert it back at any point of time if you want to even if it voids warranty.
Re: Chip tuning 1.4i, worth it?
No its 100% not worth it.
The gains you will get on that engine will be virtually nothing and will probably un-recognisable.
It mainly for turbo'd cars only really, this is where you see big differences.

First of all tuning means you can setup your engine and dsg the way you like it to work.
Secondly you can put it that way —
1.2tsi is +$2000 compared to 1.4i (although i didnt buy tsi because they werent available at that time)
for $250 you are offered 10% power increase on your engine +tuning. As far as money are concerned it looks like its worth it. It wont be as good as tsi but its also cheaper and its simplier then turbo.
Also most people report fuel consumption decrease due to more hp being available earlier or whatever the reason is.
I mean yes — 15hp isnt much and its considered that only big atmo engines are worth to be tuned (like 2.0L+) but i bet those 15 horse power and 15nm doesnt hurt to have.

that's what i always thought because most cars that have been chipped are diesels. (which have turbos)

Re: Chip tuning 1.4i, worth it?
Can you link us to the tuning company that will produce gains of 15bhp on the 1.4 6R Polo?
Re: Chip tuning 1.4i, worth it?
VTG http://www.vtg.pl/ said its possible to achieve 100-105hp IF i will also use only 98 fuel and with a slight tweak to exhaust system + chip tuning
Some local company promised +10hp +10nm with just engine chip tuning
