6N2 GTI Mudflaps

Post by Polo Dan »

What's the deal with GTI mud flaps? Rare little blighters aren't they?!
Does anyone know the vw part number for the front flaps? (me and my wallet know that part number: 6N0075111A relates to the ones that don't fit) :?
Also, are the rear ones the same across the range?

I'm after genuine vw stock so if anyone has some or knows where I can get some then that'll be great cheers. :D

Thanks Ashcroft, I didn't think they'd still do them but with the part number supplied by Dom I'll give it a go! :D

Thanks to both of you :)

Right guys, here's the before and after photos - car could do with a right good clean and polish but we can over look that for now..

Front before:

Front after:

Also here's what the fronts for the GTI (part number 6N0075112 - thanks Dom) look like unfitted, note the shape of the bottom half and the single tab towards the top end..:

..and here what the fronts look like for non GTI models (part number 6N0075111A), note the bottom is a different shape and they have two tabs towards the top end:

One other thing, I had to undo three bolts from the front wheel arch liners to fit these - on doing so I found that just behind there is a nasty mud trap in the end of the sills. I scooped out all the mud and gunk (about the size of a tennis ball on each side) then cleaned out with water prior to fitting the flaps, if you're going to fit flaps or even if you're not I would highly recommend doing this little job as you'll be saving yourself from potential rust issues in the future. :)

Guys Dan isn’t exaggerating about the mud in the sills, I’ve just cleaned mine out whilst replacing a wing and fitting front mud flaps and there’s now two mounds the size of Ben Nevis where my car was parked. Both sills were totally filled with soil. I’m blaming this for the corrosion that killed the original wing at the bottom so best get cleaning guys and gals.....Verity I’m looking at you Queen of clean!

I got lucky on ebay as some new ones turned up, they must of been sitting in some store cupboard for years! Keep your eyes peeled and make sure you buy the correct part number!
