Urgent help needed! Knocking noise!

Post by Jordy-6n2 »

I had a 16" bbs rxii and wanted to see what it looked like so i put it on, drove about 10meters max at about 5mph.
I then changed the wheel back to my 15" alloy that was on before and now when i drive over 20mph and brake there is a loud knocking noise from the wheel i changed, thought a nut might have been loose so i slackened them off and re-tightened them and it still does it!

Any ideas?

Does it feel like the brake is applying and releasing, or is it actually a knocking noise? Check you havent disturbed the disks and pads at all or the rear disk guard.

im about 15miles away from the car but could it be the screw on the disk holding it in the exact place has come undone?

Its possible, but the wheel ultimately holds the disk tight to the hub. Just go over everything carefully and make sure its all tight and proper.

Check the wheel bolts make sure none are loose, if not could be the wheel bearing is it louder the faster you go ?.

It'd generally make a thump when you accelerate and then again when you brake if it was the wishbone bushes

If they were an advisory its foolish to ignore it though as if they are failing/failed its dangerous and will shred your tyres.
