Update on gearbox situation!

Post by Lloydiexx »

Hi Guys & Girlies Just a little update on my Polo Gti
My Dad today managed to take out the gearbox (didnt take too long to do considering we dont have a ramp or anything its just up on jaks lol
After draining my gearbox oil it was very sparkly ( not a good sign) :(

We took it to be high tempreature pressure washed which cleaned it up a treat, after fighting with the bolts on the gearbox we eventually got it open and it was a sight i was dreading :!: :!: :!: Crying face :(
The lay shaft bearing has totally dicintergrated which has caused metal to totally wreck the gear teeth, i have taken some photos to show how much damage although they have only been taken on a phone so hope you can see them okay.
Now have to decide whether to have mine rebuilt or just buy a recon box :?:

Just wandering has anyone on here had any dealings with Devon & Cornwall Transmissions?

I really hope you get it fixed soon :)

oooohhhh nice :(

Not heard of Devon and Cornwall Transmissions but our garage has a lot of dealings with DJ Transmissions up here in Plymouth. They are always very helpful and it may be worth giving them a ring.

Hope you get it sorted soon dude :)
