Car looks great Joe :) shame its taken you a while to sort the knocking noise.
Not good reading you post about the gearbox being a pain in the A** to put back in as my dad has just taken mine out as its knackered :(
Looking forward to reading more and seeing some more pics :) x

Thanks Michaela, tell me about it! think i refitted the front coilies 8 times in total.

I saw your post about your gearbox, touch wood i've been very lucky with my 3 previous gtis as none of the gearbox's have failed. What's the plan of action with yours? it's been off the road for a while now hasen't it ?

Once you get the technique right its not toooooo bad to get in, i'd recommend removing the front end for ease of access if you haven't already!

Hiya :) Its been off the road since the 22nd of feb :? well my gearbox is being taken to a local specialists tomorrow, (not sure if you looked at the pics on my update on the gearbox thread)
As the bearing has worn down the inside of the box so we are taking it down to have a look and then hopefully decide whether to have mine rebuilt or buy a recon box.
My Dad managed to get the box out without taking the front of the car off but it maybe wise to do so when putting it back together.
Have you got much more planned for your car?

Cheers Ash! im a bit worried about the airbag situ with the new wheel though, obviously i'd wire it in correctly but i've heard rumours of the newer steering wheels requiring different ignitor voltages... so we'll see!

ANYWAY, look what i fitted yesterday...

Very interested in what you think of this! I was planning on getting one off a mm 2 golf once my brakes were sorted.

Haha, it's from an Ibiza MK3, unfortunately its my mates and we'll be putting it on his car in a few weeks time, i just wanted to try it out lol.

First impressions was the difference in 'feel' round the corners, the front end seems more response than before, although hard to have a good test with all the crappy rain!

oh and for reference it s H&R 28mm .
