yeh mate its mainly due to needing a full respray anyways to take out the scuff down the side which was there when I bought it and a few car park dents.
if the paintwork was fine id just do the sill.

having it there should get my behind in gear to do it lol

Both cars look great dude. Love seeing my old polo still cleans up nice :D

Please dont take this the wrong way, but is it really worth spending £3,000 to respray a car that will more than likely be worth less than that when you decide to sell?

I know there are not loads of gti's around nowadays but from a financial point of view, you stand to lose out alot. Unless your planning on keeping this for years, i would just spray the worst bits and put up with the rest.

Feel free to tell me to mind my own business.

Yeh your old 1 did clean up lovely :-)

I won't be spending £3000 on a respray for exactly that reason lol if it works out around that price I'll do what you say and do the worst bits.
I am planning on keeping this for years but it still doesn't justify 3 grand on a paint job lol I'm happy with around £1000

You want me to send the photos or you gonna steal these?

Apparently we got a new pressure washer now so you can just bring snow foam here someday

Fair enough man. Like I said its not really any of my business, your money, your car yada yada. :-)

£1,000 on the other hand would be a great price.

Nah man that's cool I appreciate all input :-)
I know what your saying about the cost, but surely that price is for like a complete strip down and then paint outside, inside, engine bay and underside??

I'm just thinking of doing outside paint

The Prep work is where all the big bucks come into it, if you can do the majority of the prep work yourself then you stand to save a fortune

It takes hours and hours to remove all the original paint (if your going bare metal) so its no wonder its so expensive, the paint itself is relatively cheap its all the man hours that cost a fortune :(

I wouldn't know where to start and if they was t happy with the prep work I'd have to pay them to correct it so just gonna send it away to fix all the blemishes and paint the lot to match it in better

Had to pay £300 for the paint for the mk1, that's more than i've paid for the prep and spraying so far..!

Little pressie through the post 2day, as my old 1 had scratched badly...

Image

Also I've ordered 165/50/15 Bridgestone potenzas which have a 2 week wait, I've also been in touch with my man about the borbets (2nd refurb now) he said they was proper f*cked and proper bodged with the previous refurb so he's had to get them shot blasted and started again from scratch :-( bit extra cost now but at least I know there gonna be done properly this time :D should be picking them up this weekend or next so soon as tyres are here I'll finally get the borbets on after over 6 months without them :-)

Bring on the stretch and more lows ;-)

Just put a bid on some new wheels and hopefully I can get them as I think they'd look sweet on a 6n2 and I've never seen it done before :-p

Good choice with the Potenza's Luke :) really decent tyres
They are priced well for 15" rims too but when your looking for 17" the prices just start going crazy
