Thanks. I am keen on getting the PSS09's too. Seem to give you the best of both worlds - comfort at times and hard core for others ;-)

I understand that the next step for you will be to get a DSG remap when one is available. Who are the companies working on that and do you know the status? I think I will wait for it then do the hybrid upgrade and DSG remap together. I am a newbie so do you think that sounds sensible?

As for hybrid's I know APR here in Oz are developing their own hybrid option so I may end up with a choice between LOBA and APR.

Cheers

When you get the DSG mapped, could you make it so on upshifts when using the paddles it can skip gears as it does on downshifts? I.e. say you went from 4th to 7th, it technically can go straight there, but when using the paddles it goes 4th to 5th, pause, 5th to 6th, pause, then finally 6th to 7th. Would be nice to eliminate that if it's possible? :)

I guess technically it could, but why would you?

It would be a performance map and not an efficiency map so one would contradict the other in terms of software programming.

If you wanted an efficiency programme, then that would be different, but again why buy a GTI if you want to make it slower and efficient?

I guess in terms of fast road or track driving you would never use that, I was just thinking every day driveability, it bugs me since I use the paddles probably 90% of the time, if I want to change up a couple of gears it just takes longer than it should. Can't see it taking anything away from the performance side though - it should only affect it when in manual mode.

Been a bit lax in keeping this thread up to date

Went to Elsecar mega meet and cleaned the car and then finished with the DA polisher followed by a good waxing and the result was this.....

Image

Thanks to the guys who took these shots as I only had my crappy phone with me.

Also recently tried some VCDS setting alterations and ramped up all the settings on the map and WMI mix to try and get a decent run after altering the settings. Warmer weather and clean, dry roads after the rain along with a few hard previous runs to warm the tyres up resulted in the following (all done at the same spot as previous runs)

0-100mph in 11.8 seconds off a decent 5.1 to 60mph, so running the richer mix with setting C and setting off with traction control on in S mode seems to be the way to go for a 1/4 mile run and resulted in the following...........

Image

Clearly a better top end power with a 107.2mph terminal, but still only a 13.5  *note to self - must try harder!*

as you can see by the G-Force, the pull is strong too!

Image

These are the best runs and several were hampered with the dreaded DSG torque limiter :x , so still need that DSG remap sooner rather than later.

The good sign is that there were no faults came up on VCDS after the runs, the bad sign is that I appear to be running out of front tread on the tyres.

Hey dude.....car looks very clean there, nice work.

Are you not experiencing any mis-fires or any issues with anything at all running that power?

Also, can you comment on if those spark plugs your running made any difference (even in standard form)?

Thanks.

Auto Finesse Lather car shampoo (snowfoam)
Bilberry cleaner for the wheels
Tardis
Meguairs Gold class claybar
Dodo Juice Lime prime Pre wax cleanser (Great bit of kit this) with a medium polishing pad.
Auto Finesse "Soul" car wax applied manually and then used the DA machine to get the shine....X2 (left 4hrs between waxes)

Nowhere near as good as the professionals, but much better than I thought I'd do.

No he didn't.

You'll have to ask him about that then :)
Hats off to you then. I doubt I would have put in the effort if I was working the day before and later the same day as the show.

Ordered some Okada plasma coil packs.

Four times greater spark power, extra power and better fuel economy

Should keep any potential misfires at bay. 8)
