Hi all hoping some of you can help me here...
I had a quick clean of my engine bay this mornin with autoglym stuff, it said to spray on brush around and rinse off with water which I did but I used very little water just in case summin like this happened.
Engine management light has come on so I plugged in my code reader and it has come up with.
code: P0301
The book says this code means: cylinder 1 misfire detected
Can anyone help me out and explain why this had happened and what can be done to sort it?
It's running ok sometimes but other times it feels a bit lumpy and slow.
Would it be to do with water getting in the k&n typhoon which is at the bottom of the engine bay?

Re: Help needed!! Cylinder misfire :-(
Hey man, I thought you were running the waterproof sock on the K&N. It sounds like you have got a bit of water into the electrics (plugs, leads etc) Maybe disconnect number 1 HT lead and check for damp/corrosion. Dry it out and then check again mate. Is it trying to run on 4 or is it permanently on 3?
Re: Help needed!! Cylinder misfire :-(
Yeh man I have got the waterproof dock on which is why I'm confused lol
It feels and sounds like its trying to run all 4 but not always is. I'll do what you say and unplug a few things and dry them out a bit

Ok man, hope it solves itself easily. Keep us updated on how it goes
If you need it i have the basic VAGCOM but sounds like your code reader does the job.

Re: Help needed!! Cylinder misfire :-(
Number 1 is by the cam belt.
It's a shared coil on this, so you can't swap it sadly. You could swap the leads around on the coil to see if the misfire follows the lead, but you'd need to know the firing sequence first. You can't try a different lead easily though on 1, as the others are all too short
Hope it gets sorted easily/cheaply though!

Re: Help needed!! Cylinder misfire :-(
leave the bonnet up and spray anything electrical in wd40 or gt85 etc etc.
will be nothing serious but check youve not drowned the plugs and lead.
