Volkswagen Coil Pack Recall
Anybody had there coil packs replaced by Volkswagen. Was told today by an aquantance who is a VW tech that a recall scheme was anounced last March 2011 on certain coil packs. But because it wasnt a safety issue VW are not writing to people but will do it when they come in for a service or other work. He said to phone my local dealer and see if my car (a 2006 GTI) is covered under the recall. Just wondering if anybody on here has had it done.

Re: Volkswagen Coil Pack Recall
Not a reply that will help you, although it might confirm VAG's view on dealing with this sort of problem:- Subject - failing plug end coils - on failure only replace faulty coil, on repeat visits, to avoid changing car, replace complete sets - wording might not be spot on, but very close, that was sourced from ElsaWin!
There is nothing to be lost by asking at your local VW dealer's service place, I'd expect that they would require that the car was serviced to the correct VW mandated procedures, and that there would be an age and mileage limit as, in truth, parts do eventually fail.

Re: Volkswagen Coil Pack Recall
Hello, I had mine replaced in January before i picked up the car. I rang VW customer services and told me that the Recall Coil Pack had been changed. Hope this helps.

Re: Volkswagen Coil Pack Recall
Cheers guys, have been doing a bit of googling and found this on the Pistonheads forum posted by an Audi tech .
Quote:
"Also if its petrol (any engine size) and between 2001 ish and 2008 ish, ring up (with you vin or reg number) and see if its due the plug coil recall. Have fitted a load of them lately, all 8 in an S4 is a significant freebee that you shouldnt miss out on"
Also found on another forum that the coil pack for my car (part number 06A 905 115 A) has been discontinued and is being superseeded by 06A 905 115 R so maybe they are changing them over.
Anyway will phone VW tomorrow and see what they say. Will update this thread when I know more.

Re: Volkswagen Coil Pack Recall
Wee update on this, phoned VW yesterday with chassis number and reg number and asked specifically about the plug end coil recall. They checked on there database for any issues or recalls on my car and all came back clear, so good news on that front.
