Removing / getting to the ECU connector

Post by woter324 »

Ok so the ECU is bolted to the bulk head from the engine side using some cleaver anti-taper shear bolts. (Thanks VW :x ). To remove them, either use some Mole Grips (easier said than done as what is left after the hex head is sheared off is a nice rounded surface  ) or cut a slot in the top and use a screw driver to unscrew them. (haven't tried it yet)

The reason I want to remove the ECU is to add a connector to the last pin for cruise control, which I beleive is required :?:

Am I right in my statements and has anyone removed the ECU themselves.

Lastly, what is the part number to replace these anti-tamper shear bolts. :?:

Any help will be apreciated.

Thanks in advance.
