GTI Xenon Headlights?

Post by jamesagordon »

Really want a pair but can only find some ridiculously priced ones from the US on eBay.

Anyone bought any/know how much they are from VW or is anyone selling any?

I wouldn't expect change out of close to 2000 quid to do it properley. To give you an idea, $350AUD will buy you ONE, just one xenon globe from a dealership that won't give you a bulb error.

You'd loose less money selling your Polo and getting one with Xenons already :) You'd have to be stupid to pay £2,500+ for some lights

Im sure the headlights are only around £600 for the pair. Then you just need to buy self levellers etc and control unit.

I think it's the self levelling gear that's the problem. It's a nightmare to fit, and the Xenons are illegal without them.

The bulbs are the killer guys, I kid you not, from a VW stealer, at trade price, each bulb is AUD$350. Call it 200 pounds PER BULB. Add on the ballasts, the front and rear leveler sensors, the 2 wiring harnesses, all the grommets, the headlights themselves, front headlight washers (if not already fitted) then having to get it all coded up etc..... Like AJ_7 said, you would lose less money by selling and getting another car with the Xenons.

From Kufatec:
Lights and associate hardware: 2199 euro plus shipping

This includes wiring, levelers, lights etc.

Then you will also need:
Globes
Headlight washers
larger washer bottle
headlight washer motor
headlight washer front bumper (if you don't think you can cut straight) and colour coding of washer caps
Recoding of ECU

Waste of coin in my opinion. The Xenons were a $1600 option here in Oz, that would total up over $3000 plus labour. That's a tune, intercooler and turbo-back exhaust.

Well xenon lights have a switch inside which you can change from EU driving to UK driving. if this comes with everything thats pretty cheap!
