Polo 9n - headlight warning chime

Post by Dom. »

Hi all.
First off its a 9n AWY 1.2 on a 52 plate.

All of a sudden the warning chime that rings when you've left your lights on and open your door has packed up.
Anyone had this? Is it just a fuse or something?

Thanks in advance.
Dom :)

thought it was part of the instrument cluster tbh as you test this on VCDS in the instruments control unit, same as Mk4/Bora, Passat B5 (not the same clusters but same principal)

Got this problem too. sure there was a guide on here somewhere to fix it.
Puddle lights work when passenger door open but not drivers door.

Happened to me a few weeks ago, I squirted some WD40 into the locking mechanism, and locked/unlocked the door a couple of times, it came back to life. Worst case scenario, it is the microswitch. Unfortunately, VW dont sell the microswitch on its own, instead they try to sell you the entire door locking mechanism. Cant remember how much the stealers charge but its alot of money. If the WD40 trick doesnt work, buy a lock off ebay and either fix it yourself or tell a garage?
Good luck buddy

WD40 Trick will probably improve things as this morning it was working normally. see how it goes... Cheers for the advice!
