If I got a £1 for every time I did this I'd be a very rich man!!

Basically I lost mine went to vw with some money borrowed there locking wheel but key for the day gave the key back and they gave me my money back

If I was you buy some new locking wheel nuts as your guna need to change them over

Not sure if vw can get a new key, or they might sell you a new set ££££££££

Hope this has shed some light

HELP !!

Post by sc0ttl3s »

25 quid for new locking nut and bolts from my local vw garage.

I had a similar problem. A local garage tightened my locking nuts on too tight and when I went to take them out I snapped the nut. Grr. Was resolved by hammering a socket over the nut.... On each wheel to get them off. They were McGard too so not soft!
Good luck fella.

There isn't just the one code, there's quite a few. The dealers have a 'master set' which they'll probably use to take them off for you, but on the off chance they don't locking wheel nuts are actually quite easy to get off using an array of pikey-ish methods.

My parts guy says that they aren't able to order new keys any more. If this is actually true, you need to get a new set. It's £60.

thats a bit s**t if they can't order new keys anymore!

my locking nut went missing a couple of years ago so I went to VW, they tried a few of their master set until they found the right one then I got a new locking nut, which came with 1 bolt too for some reason, for something like £15

Thanks for your help guys but i am so busy atm, i have somewhere i can get the key and was hoping one of you could look at your own keys for a code on it at this code will be the same as the one i need as from what i understand all the 9n3 gti's will have the same one, with the code i can establish which of the 11 types of spline ones i need, many thanks jon

Yeah, it's pretty stupid. The parts guy I normally deal with was away and his stand-in wasn't that switched on, so it might have just been because he couldn't be bothered. Didn't argue cos I needed them off ASAP.

Do you know anyone else with a 9N/9N3 who has one you can try? Surely it can't just be the GTi with completely different ones?
