Sounds good to me
will you have to get it mapped again because of the new turbo?
Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 100 miles and i killed it PG32
Yeah the map will need tweeting but I'd rather have a stronger turbo and have to Tweeks the map than have the same turbo with the possibility of this happening again.Mr Blobby wrote:Sounds good to mewill you have to get it mapped again because of the new turbo?

Have heard good things about the turbo dynamics ones mate.
Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 100 miles and i killed it PG32
Turbo dynamics that's where I got my hybrid for my derv. May be worth turning the map down for a bit to let it run in a bit for a while.
Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 100 miles and i killed it PG32
Engine has already been run in and a turbo doesn't need running in as there are no metal to metal parts. With a turbo you just need to prime them with oil before fitting.g__humm wrote:Turbo dynamics that's where I got my hybrid for my derv. Next week i will reveal my new turbo once it arrive but it much better than the IHI i had
Just in case your wondering what CR Turbo's said it was a failed shaft. This is in no way there fault it was due to pushing the turbo over it limit
Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 100 miles and i killed it PG32
Me too. Great service from them so far toobenmkiv wrote:Have heard good things about the turbo dynamics ones mate.

Was it due to you pushing it over its limit or the previous owner? Pretty sure you said they sold it for your setup. Poor customer services??
Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 100 miles and i killed it PG32
Well the fact it was second hand I will never know how it was treated but I do know the guy drove hard regularly at the rev limiter.benmkiv wrote:Was it due to you pushing it over its limit or the previous owner? Pretty sure you said they sold it for your setup. Poor customer services??
The turbo wasn't bought from CR turbos I just had them fit another compressor wheel and balance the turbo. Had they serviced it they would have given me a new turbo but as I didn't have it serviced that's my loss.
Any way that's all in the past now. Looking forward to receiving my new one.

Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. New Turbo Ordered :-)
Ok now I have have stopped sulking and there is an opportunity to go to MIVW in my car I thought I better pull my finger out.
Turbo arrived Tuesday but had to be sent back to have the CHAR clocked 180 degrees.
This will be back with me tomorrow ready to be fitted.
I am going to need to get a new oil feed and 1 water feed sorted which I plan to get sorted on Saturday morning along with a new expansion bottle.
As long as the turbo fits (it looks bigger so now worried it may foul some where on the block/head) then its all systems go.
Spoke to bill @ Badger and he can fit me in on Wednesday or Thursday for map tweaking. I would prefer to go on Wednesday so i can lower the car and have the tracking done on Thursday then give her the first wash and wax of the year prior to my 5:40am train Friday morning.
This is going to be tight and a big ask but I'm going for it so please all wish me luck as I feel I defo need some.
In the mean time I have had the intercooler and pipes off to clean out the oil in them and decide to move the n249/n112 solenoids as I didn't like them on top of the rocker cover. These have been mapped out but Bill advised to use the solenoids rather than resistors as when they get hot they change values. I need to finish this off tonight but you'll hopefully get the idea from the below images.
First bolted them together

then bolted them to the side of the head

Then striped the wiring back to re route

Just need to tape them back up. I have the proper VW felt looking tape good for high temps
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coroplast-Fur ... 3a75d0d03b
and also got some 7mm Electrical Wiring Conduit to run the wires through so it all looks factory.
Here are some better quality pics of the new intercooler and piping

Will update again tomorrow with pics of the new turbo.

Re: Black Polo GTI 6 Speed. 1 week to get it ready for MIVW
Ok job one completed. Wiring all taped up and solenoids bolted up in new home

Tomorrow hopefully fit the Intercooler and trial fit the turbo so I know the length I need to make the water line and confirm new turbo fits in its home.
