Hi Stu, I have spoken to my dealer this week, still no news I'm afraid. They did say I could (but not recommended) put thicker oil in, this should reduce the chance of smoking.

Apart from that, free oil on the house as it were until "the fix" arrives, assuming it does arrive!

Using Oil!

Post by stuart.cameron »

That's crazy. I was told at the end of May it would be 2 weeks then about a month later was told there was a shortage of parts. My dealers don't have a clue what's going on haha

Yes - that's what I was told also Stu about a lack of parts. I don't really believe this though, I think it simply stalling for more time.

A new oil seprator has been deliberated by VW.

I've read of the first installation on a Audi A1 TFSI in Italy. The car will stay in the work shop for one day.
Also the German forum is talking about this...

Let's see what will happen... :|

Many thanks Kawabanga, you seem to get a lot more information than us! In the workshop for one day, is that the sum total of their testing? :D

Whatever the case, and they are deliberating over it, I think it will be a while yet until we see it being retrofitted.

Let's see what happens, the Italian A1 was in the workshop today, looking forward to hear from the owner what they changed...
I'll keep you updated...

Also, in this German forum they talk of the deliberated part (I used Google translator, I don't know a word of German! :) ):
Seit heute ist eine geänderte Kurbelgehäuseentlüftung als Reparaturlösung freigegeben. Mal sehen was es bringt.

Thankyou for that, I just translated that German sentence, it reads:

As of today, a modified crankcase ventilation is released as a repair solution. Let's see what it brings.

No feed back for now from Italian users that already received the oil separator modification...
?? Are they all in vacation...??? :|

First impression of the modification from a German user here: http://www.motor-talk.de/forum/polo-1-4 ... st33593675

Mine is within tolerance, so guess not for me.
To be honest when I asked about the high consumption they were quite rude.

I am not bothered though - I knew the car might have issues and mine is not too bad. It might settle.

No news from me either, another small top up last weekend. Not noticed any smoke lately and I reckon I have used 1.6 L in 1,900 miles.
