New GTI Problems?

Post by southwales »

Hi.

Been thinking about the current style Polo GTI for some time but have been put off by the horror stories of DSG issues, oil consumption and other general faults.

Do the brand new cars of today still feature all these problems?

Mine has the following problems:

- DSG noice, metal on metal sound
- Oil consumption, 1liter on 1500km
- Misfires ( eating sparks/coils )
- Bad idle, shaking at cold start, can't drive of inmediately
- Noices inside when driving, coming from rear.

Polo GTI 6R, late 2011, 18.000km on it now.

VW claims that problem 1, 2, and 4 are ,,normal'' Problem 3 is been fixed a couple of times, and problem 5, they just can't find it.

I really regret that I bought this GTI brandspanking new and I get screwed over by my local dealer(s). Next month my, again, new car is coming in. But it will never be a VW related one again.

I can't believe this is still going on, especially from VW, they've gone down in my view so much over this issue.

To be honest, its just been the oil consumption issue for me, although I think they are getting on top of the issue now. I have not had any other issues with the car (touch wood). I would not expect any new build GTI's to have oil consumption issues.

Stupid question warning!

If people have so many problems with the same dealer, why do they not go to another dealership?

I have had a couple of little warranty issues (front left door striker loose causing rattles, wrong software in ECU, overhead light faulty on 'door' setting, dribbly rear window washer) and no problems at the dealership whatsoever, they are more than happy to sort it our for me. The dealership i bought it from however, they caused more problems than they could ever think to fix so i never went back there.

Just remember this southwales.

People will generally sign up to online forums for 1 or both of 2 reasons. 1) To reasearch information about something and 2) To complain about something. While you are on here, you are sampling a very small group of owners, most of whom have joined up looking for answers form problems. Think about how many non-members there are that have got absolutely no problems whatsoever with their vehicles.
