cable for abs 9n

Gents I am looking for the cable that incorporates the plugs for the abs speed sensor and the plug for the brake pad indicator on the front passenger side of the car and it eventually plugs into the main loom. Mine is dead as water has killed the wires and abs not functioning not that I am over concerned about that but I need it working for the mot in January. If any body can help with a complete cable great.

Is the cable completely knackered Sandy? If you can trace it back from the end at the strut to where it eventually connects at the other end and give me a few part numbers, I'll make a new loom up and send it to you for the cost of parts. Can't see it costing much more than £10.

Cheers Ash that would be great. I have had a few problems with this car over the last few months electrically and have solved the central locking. The main problem now is the abs. It all started after I hit a pothole at speed and exploded the tyre what a noise any way it damaged the brake wear indicator wire beyond repair as the pads were ok I ignored fixing it as the wire wasn't all that important. It has been particularly wet recently up here and needless to say the damp has penetrated the wires to the point the copper had more than oxidised it had actually rotted the wires so that I couldn't find any decent quality wire to splice into a total mare. Arnold Clark aka the stealers have advised the wire is on back order mmm me thinks they are talking nonsense. I have changed my alloys back to the contour ones personally I think they look better than the monza Gti ones as the offset allows for the wheels to sit further out in the wheel arch and that seems to make the car hold the road better as a slightly wider stance. The other problem I have had was the rear brakes the drivers side calliper has been playing up and the brake pad wear has been terrible seems like it has been seizing up but when I stripped it down to component level it looked ok other than you could see it had been heating up a far bit. I have also been offered a golf gti tdi 03 plate with 22500 miles on it for peanuts, it has been in a lock up for 6 and a half years it is minted apart from front discs and pads as well rusted up and 4 tyres required. I will be doing the timing belt and water pump along with new oil and filters plus new fuel filter. Its the 150 bhp model with the six speed box in silver 3dr not my choice of colour but when its pretty much new then I will over look this small detail. Hope all is well with you. I will see if I can get the part numbers for it I have part of a wire but it is no where near long enough as goes just to before the wire disappears in to the main part of the car. I am not 100 sure how far back in the car the joint is for it as I haven't pulled anything off yet to investigate perhaps you could enlighten me so I know how much time I need to allocate to resolve the problem and get the damn light on my dash off once and for all. can you make one for a passat at all as my mums cable has had it at the connection for brake pad sensor.

Having a look in ETKA now to see what I can find. How's the rest of the car anyway? Did you manage to swap all the panels over to fix the vandalism? The Golf sounds pretty sweet. PD150 is a really nice motor. Also, if you ever want to get rid of the contur alloys... *cough* Does the brake wear indicator connector and ABS sensor connector share the same loom on your car Sandy? If so, looks like it costs ~£30 or so from VW. I'll try and find the trade price on it, although if you could remove the loom (still trying to figure out where it plugs into) and maybe send it over, I'd be able to make one up for a fraction of the cost.

Yes it does share the same loom it comes to a a junction behind the strut one part with two wires goes to the speed sensor in the wheel hub and the other connects to the wear indicator wire on the pads. Hope this helps was quoted 58 sheets +vat from the stealers.

Well, the loom itself goes through the wheel arch liner (have a look it's quite obvious), but I'm not entirely certain where it terminates. It's just four wires in essence with connectors on the end. Surely it can't be completely corroded? I'd cut back the wire to maybe 4" away from where it disappears into the arch liner (presuming it hasn't corroded all the way up there) and solder new lengths of wires on, heatshrink it up and then add some OEM terminals and connector housings. That would cost about £5 or so imo. That's what I'd do. I'll price up a new loom from TPS, but I think it'd be cheaper to do what I suggested above.

Cheers Ash I will have a better look at where this cable disappears to at the end of the week end Thursday. Very rarely down your way these days unless going down on Holiday. However I can always make the journey if required.

Finally the abs and brake wear indicator are fixed. I had to remove a fair bit of the old cable that water had got into plus managed to stop the same happening to the side indicator wire as it too was full of water in the wire cover. It's great to turn the ignition key and not have several alarms pinging away and to have a clear dash.

Good to hear! I need to get round to sorting my brake wear cable after some idiots at a garage cut it It's taped up now, but it needs a proper repair at some point, probably when I get the suspension sorted.

Random question - are you going to be getting rid of the Polo once you get the Golf?

Yeh That's the plans I have a set of 16" gti monza wheels genuine vw (ronal ) up for grabs seeing as I have put the conturs back on. I am planning on putting the car right back to original spec so it will be getting a brake or suspension down grade as the gti running gear comes off. I still have the rear axle intact so a straight swap over on the back the front is a pain in the tail but not leaving the bigger callipers on the car as they will do the golf. The side skirts rear valance will all be removed and put to original so I can get a good price and top this up with the gti bits of which I have many.

Depending on finances, could I have first dibs on a few parts? Am I right in thinking it's got the GTI interior too? Could you send me a pm with what's available?

Will do Ash no probs at all you will get first crack on what ever there is available I have stuff in my shed that I will need to sort out I know that there is gti air vents drivers side and passenger side. I will pm the rest once I have dug it all out.
