New Candy White GTI owner

Post by Ben@dubstarz »

Hi all, new to the forum although I have used various VW forums over the years due to owning plenty of VAG metal including a Mk5 GTi, a Mk5 R32 and recently a Mk6 GT, with Golf R kit fitted etc...

Totally love the new shape Polo so I sold my Mk6 Golf a couple of months back and landed a low mileage well specced 11 Plate Candy White 3 Door 6R GTi. Have to say I expected it to be a little bit of a come down after owning the Golf but in all honesty the quality of the Polo has blown me away! :D

I actually think it's a better built car than my Golf was, seems a lot more solid and needless to say to me it feels far more fun than the Golf which in my opinion are becoming a little too big a car these days.

Anyway, I won't ramble on too much, done plenty of mods so far and got some nice pics but no recent ones with all the mods on, so I'll update this soon with some details.

Just thought I'd introduce myself, I'm from Wolverhampton West Mids area and I have Vag-com and I'm pretty clued up on it now with the 6R platform so if anyone needs anything coding give me a shout.

Hope to be of use here, owned VW and Audi's for years and there isn't much I don't know about them, and I've done all my own work on them too. Not that it's an invite to bring all your cars round for some free work, ha. Looking forward to getting to know you all better, and hopefully become a useful site member.

Cheers all, Ben

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, will sort some pics out over the weekend. Had the car well cleaned up other day and I have been out in it today and it's filthy, damn weather!!

Will have to get it washed tomorrow and some new pics taken. I'll pop on later and do a quick list of what I've carried out already, fitted the footwell lights the other night and used Kufatec's instructions but they were useless as the lights were on all the time even whilst driving about which I didn't like. Managed to get the wiring diagram for the Polo 6R from the erWin site anyway and wired them to the roof lights instead so they dim on and off like they should do with the ignition key / door opening & closing.

Hi Joe, I live in Essington, not too far from Sneyd School if you know of it? Where you live now then? I have seen a candy white GTi head past some new Bungalows I been working on in Essington, it's always heading towards Cannock, is that you? Small world if it is, ha.

I can sort out your cluster change no probs, done it on mine, assume you want it for the digital speed display? Send me a PM with your number and I'll be in touch so you can pop round and get it sorted 8)

Hi mate, welcome to the forums! Keep us all posted with any updates and pictures 8)

Jacov, I pretty sure you can't activate the needle sweep in the 6R Polo :(

Hi Joe, got your PM but I can't reply to them yet as I haven't posted enough times on here

Been very busy this week so apologies for the late reply, my birthday this Saturday too so weekend is chock full of things I'm upto. Can make it sometime next week though, hopefully get some pics on here of my car this weekend and get a few more posts on so I can reply to PM messages, ha.

Sorry about that mate, not much longer to wait

Cheers, Ben
