So VW agreed to change my car so now I have a 2013 gti with the polished monza fronts etc which I have done 1000 miles in now and the oil light came on at 800... I know its running in but my old mans gtd his oil light never came on once from new and still hasnt after 15,000! So im dishearted and now thinking of getting rid, found a beautiful white audi S3 which im keen on now so ive lost all faith with vw!
Thats a shame that you seem to have trouble with 2 GTi's, not good is it! Mine seems ok on the oil issue but I don't really use it much during the week as I have a van for work so the Polo is a weekend / evening toy luckily.
I've owned a fair few VW's and Audi's and I guess I've been lucky enough to have no problems with any of them except the TT Mk2 which has an awful problem with the leather stretching in a very ugly way on the seats. That was more a design flaw than anything but still it narked me a lot on a car that cost me £33k at the time, as Audi didn't care much about it at all. Seems whichever marque you go to, there will always be models that have problems, I had a BMW 1 Series that had a few gremlins that bugged me, but it seems these days manufacturers expect you to be able to live with these flaws?
Will be a shame if you decide to sell up, but I can't fault you if you got for an S3, they are excellent cars and very well built the few I have been lucky enough to sit in. I'm almost tempted to go for a TT Mk2 again myself, as the 3.2 S-Tronic's are down to a really cheap price, and they're better to tax than the manual Golf Mk5 R32 I had, and I absolutely LOVE that 3.2 V6 exhaust note, heaven!
My ideal VAG car if I had the money? I'd prob be radical and buy a Golf Mk6 R 3 door, and rip the engine out and replace it with the above 3.2 V6, ha
