It's all about the flow when it comes to gains for exhausts & manifolds.
The Standard GTI exhaust manifold is actually very good which is why the raceland manifolds don't tend to give huge gains.
I'm not 100% but I think the standard manifold is 4-2-1 too, I dont remember it being 4-1 but I could be wrong.
Has yours been mapped Luke or are you looking to get that done in the future too?
Ashcroft wrote:No it hasn't been mapped since I've had it Ben but was planning on getting it mapped once the manifold and exhaust are on
I will be giving it a dyno run after the manifold and exhaust are done to see what gains I get before I map it
Nice one Luke sounds like a plan!
Be good to see before and after figures, the map will help tie them in together and hopefully you should see 140+ bhp
You probably can mate but unfortunately all the major tuning parts seem to be only available in Germany.
I would love to see a GTI running ITB's and Schrick Cams, no doubt with all the other bolt on modifations it could easily pull 180bhp and 220NM's of torque.

I am looking for uprated parts for mine at the moment, theres not much out there but i will keep on looking, my 6 speed box is stronger than the 5 speed ones but not unknown to fail, I managed to get another engine that is smokey to rebuild over the winter, nice part of the deal was the spare 6 speed box bolted onto the end

Nice one mate, good luck with the rebuild let everyone know how you get one
The 6 speed is slightly stronger than the 5 speed but the ratio's are not as good so it does effect the acceleration (marginally)

but mine stays on song better, if you saw it go you wouldnt question acceleration lol. but I do know what you mean as my 6th is the same as your 5th so i have more gearchanges, but roundabouts love 3rd with a 6 speed.
Oh yeah no doubt it shifts its just the 5 speed has longer ratio's which aids the acceleration, epsecially 0-60 because the 5 speed can pull over 60 in 2nd compared to the 6 speed which is 57/58 if memory serves. Its a shame the Polo GTI didn't have the 6 speed though, that extra gear would be useful on motorway journeys.
