I chased my wires back over the gearbox then cut it out and started again. There isn't a plug at the other end so it'll need soldering whatever.

Understood, thanks but if I can get the plug and a length, Ill cut back and sort. To clear the code, Ive tried to leave the car's battery disconnected for hours - do I need to use a reader to clear it? This assumes ofc the fault is gone - a quick test drive yesterday gave me no jerks - so hopefully its sorted.
