Roof Racks MKVI

Looking for a set of Polo 9N roof racks... Local garage can supply for £80 but they said I need a fitting.kit also... what exactly is in the fitting kit ?? Thanks Jack :)

They fit in the doors on these. That system's out of fashion at the moment, so dedicated bars for that application are scarce/dear. The fitting kit will be to allow bars for a different application (roof pocket or gutter fixing) to be used. It'll either be feet, or metal brackets.

I recently had this with a mate's B4 passat estate (no roof rails, so needed "in the door" fixing) and really struggled to get any for under £100. Managed to find some NOS ones on ebay in the end.

All the stuff's on display in Halfords, so you can pop in, look in their book at what you need, then you can see what's supplied with the bars and the fitting kit for yourself.

Thanks a million mate !! I'll pop in to halfords and then I then see where I can get the cheapest ones :)

with the "in door fixing" kits does it affect the bodywork ? No holes to be drilled or anything ?

no holes - they simply clamp round the tops of the door shuts. Leaving them on permanently could cause the rubber to bend a bit, but it'll remain water tight.

oh, and anything that is in contact with paintwork'll have rubber pads.
