Rear washer not working.
Rear washer not working.
My rear screen washer is not working and it would be handy to have it at the moment!
I've noticed a drip coming from underneath the front passenger side wing when i fill the washer bottle up.
Any idea where I could start checking? I've looked at the washer bottle in the engine compartment but can't see any tubes coming off it. I've tried to take it out...but failed.
thanks!

Re: Rear washer not working.
The pipe has probably come apart behind the trim panel next to the passenger side rear seat
It's very common for them to come apart.

As Alex says, check behind the rear LHS trim where the back door would be on a 5 door, mine had a joint in it which had separated. The leak from the front could be the headlight washer, both of mine leak when the washer bottle is full. It drips out behind the bumper.

The headlight washers are a nightmare on these. The pressure seals fail.
I mustve been through 10 different jets over all the GTIs ive had.

Sorry to sound thick...
Do I open the tailgate and check behind the trim on the passenger side or do you mean the panel behind the passenger seat, which looks a nightmare to get off?

Re: Rear washer not working.
You need to....
Remove the shelf the parcelshelf latches into - two screws one either side
Then push the seat forward, and remove the latch post with an allen key, then remove the three plastic nut things located near the bottom of the panel
It then just comes off easily

All of it.
I've undone everything and tried to pull it and lift it all up from the bottom, but nothing gives. It's hard to get hold of too. Kills your hands.

You may have to remove the door card too. I'll need to check my brothers three door for you

It should lift up and away as it hooks on a little ledge by the glass.

Re: Rear washer not working.
Sorry if I'm a bit thick, but how do the headlight washers work?! Also does anyone know how you adjust the lock time on the dash?! As the car instruction manual doesn't seem to include GTI models!
