Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
How deep is it?
That's looks like it could be polished out with a DA

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
Pretty deep Alex, i may be able to use the DA to 'convex' the scratch edges so it reflects less light making it less visible...

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
I would give it a try. The worst you can do is go too deep.
Use a mild/heavy cut on a polishing pad and then finish off with a finishing pad and finishing paste and seal

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
Yeah will try something like that. I've worked with some key marks before on GTI numero 1, unfortunately as it's the bonnet it shows up every imperfection..

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
I had some very heavy scratches done by a window cleaner dragging a hose over the front of my car mainly affecting the bonnet.
They all either came out or were sufficiently smoothed off with the above method
It should work! Vw paint is pretty hardy

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
1It's obvious that it's a deep key mark as you can feel it under your fingers, guess we'll see when i have a go!
Could be worse, could be down the whole side of the car...

Re: Joe's Gti Progress Thread
Nothing worse than people messing with your motor
Hope you get it sorted mate, doesn't look horrendous on the picture but its unlikely that a DA will completely remove it.
You would be better off getting it resprayed rather than looking for a replacement bonnet because the chances of finding a mint one are pretty slim.
