If you really want to know how fast they are, go into a Seat garage and book a test drive for the new 1.9TDi Cupra R Ibiza. Ive been told it picks up as fast if not faster than the Leon Cupra R- I have driven the Leon and I got a bit scared after a certain speed which I cannot mention. So if the diesel matches that amount of performance with diesels torque then I'm going to get a sticker at the bottom of my number plate reading: "My next car is going to be a PDiesel
"

My brother has the Seat Leon 1.9TDi Cupra, 150bhp, 6 speed box, and it's very fast, yet still manages over 50 to the gallon!tornado_ally wrote:If you really want to know how fast they are, go into a Seat garage and book a test drive for the new 1.9TDi Cupra R Ibiza. http://www.diesel-inside.com

This is very true.alx3 wrote:it's more about in gear acceleration than 0-60. a 200bhp diesel could probably humble a CTR in a 30-50 and 50-70.
it's all about torque in real world driving not 0-60.
I'm not interested in 0-60 times at all, it's 50-70 type timings that I want to know - the sort of speeds you use for overtaking on A-roads and on the motorway etc - that's where performance is really useful and not just to hack away from a set of traffic lights like a t**t.

honestly my 9n TDi is my first car and i haven't driven any other car (except for a leon cupra on the racing track
), but its pull in third and maybe the fourth gears is amazing. the first and second gears are relatively slow, but high speed acceleration really compensates for that. plus you get amazing mpg values!
cheers!
