Hello Members, my 2001 Polo 1.4 auto has now had a new 'alternator' and 'starter motor' due to failure, the original VW battery is still in the car so I thought I should maybe consider changing this, I was thinking of using a 'Varta' as they, like so many which are made by the 'Johnson Controls' group, regarded highly and actually used by some car makers as there OEM Part.
I know there are other makers of batteries which are more expensive, but I can spend around the £100 (not really much more), i also know there are much cheaper on the market like Halford.
So members do you use 'Varta' in your VW, and has it been reliable? Are there other makes of battery which are regarded really good for my budget, and match my original VAG battery?
Thanks for the help.
Kind regards
Livio
Thinking of new battery, is Varta used by VAG for Polo's?

VW do use VARTA as an OEM supplier but many others too
Bosch Silver are regarded to be one of the best batteries you can get so this is worth considering
Either that, or get a VAG one - they arent that expensive compared to the competition.

Thanks Alex for the help, from what I can tell Varta look to not be too expensive, Bosch seem to be readily available and also around my price range.
One thing they both seem to state, is that there product guarantees that it will either 'meet' or 'exceed' the original OEM part specifications.
And I think both will retail for less than VAG's OEM battery, but I seem to be leaning towards the 'Johnson Controls' 'Varta' product, it's just something I keep seeing across the Web on how positive there batteries are rated.
Still, price will be the 'tipping' factor on which one I buy.
Regards
