New member here, thought would say hi and introduce our polo..

Jabbasport remap 140bhp,250torque approx
Otherwise standard

Sorry for the crap pic but all I have of the polo at the moe..


I'm after some advice on a cheap coil over kit as I want to drop it and upgrade to some nice 17" wheels

Am I right in thinking if I add 17" I shall need to run 205.40.17 tyres? Will tyres rub at that size? As I don't want any issues.

What a good cheap coil over kit that you guys can recommend?

JOM and FK coilovers seem to be quite popular and you can pick them up for under £200. But just remember the cheap coilovers may give you the lows but you will have to exchange your spine for it (you will feel every little bump in the road).

If I wanted a softer ride but lowered to say the top of the tyre wall on 17" alloys what drop lowering springs would be recommended to go with some new oem shocks?

On OEM shocks people say not to drop more than 35mm, otherwise you will bugger them.
The popular choices are H&R springs which drop approx 35mm or Eibach Prolines which drop approx 30mm. The sport models of the polos are already dropped by around 15mm so with the springs you would be looking at a 20mm and 15mm drop respectively.

I think I've read the H&R springs and 17's will get rid of the wheel arch gap at the rear of the car but will still leave a tiny gap at the front. I'm not 100% on this but there should be a post somewhere on here showing a polo on H&R's and 17's.

If you are looking to go low, get coilovers, but you will be sacrificing ride comfort.
