Shell V-power
Shell V-power
Just a quick question, really: I have a 1.2 70ps Polo, and I am thinking of using Shell V-power petrol instead of regular. Is it worth it,or is it all just an expensive waste of time?(especially on my engine)!

Re: Shell V-power
It would make little difference to an engine such as yours. Benefits are only seen on turbo engines and larger capacity NA engines
I would save your money and use normal unleaded.

Re: Shell V-power
yep for sure save yer money...
Re: Shell V-power
V-power has been proven to give next to nothing extra over normal unleaded on small power cars, big power cars yes does, make a difference... E.g Polo Gti Normal = 165bhp Polo Gti V-power = 180bhp
Re: Shell V-power
Ha Ha 15bhp more? you are delusional fella-- its good stuff yes but my r1 doesn't go any faster--runs smoother yes more responsive but big bhp gains are rubbish
Re: Shell V-power
Does your r1 have a turbo? No, I didn't think so.ukmarine1 wrote:Ha Ha 15bhp more? you are delusional fella-- its good stuff yes but my r1 doesn't go any faster--runs smoother yes more responsive but big bhp gains are rubbish
That's why you see no benefit.
Vpower is only genuinely worthwhile on a charged motor. It's higher octane means you can generally run more boost and ignition advance without worrying too much about pre detonation.
Re: Shell V-power
Proven on a Golf GTi dynoed with normal octane petrol, emptied and then filled with v-power and dynoed again and showed an increase of approx 10bhpukmarine1 wrote:Ha Ha 15bhp more? you are delusional fella-- its good stuff yes but my r1 doesn't go any faster--runs smoother yes more responsive but big bhp gains are rubbish
Same again on a Subaru wrx sti and gave an increase of approx 14bhp iirc so yea its worth it if you have the right car for it, not so much for crotch rockets...
Re: Shell V-power
yeah pal but i'd paste your little toy with my crotch rocket no sweat!
and the guy said 15 bhp increase for a polo not a bloody subaru or golf gti
Re: Shell V-power
and rover 220 read the posts eh? who mentioned altering the boost etc? he said the increase was due to the premium fuel--suggest READ THINK OPEN MOUTH IN FUTURE EH?
Re: Shell V-power
You will not see any increase in power.POLOHTP wrote:Just a quick question, really: I have a 1.2 70ps Polo, and I am thinking of using Shell V-power petrol instead of regular. Is it worth it,or is it all just an expensive waste of time?(especially on my engine)!
You may feel that the engine runs a little smoother on V-Power
Is it worth it on a 1.2 70ps Polo? No!

How about you read my post.
I was giving a summary as to when vpower is worthwhile using. It is well proven that vpower can give and does give good gains.
Suggest----DO RESEARCH BEFORE OPEN MOUTH IN FUTURE
Re: Shell V-power
well in this all encompassing summary wheres the economy data? wheres the cost implications? not everybody just goes and revs the ass off the car in mcdonalds you know How can you summarise what you haven't posted before ? a summary of what? if you worked in the nhs we could have a clinical appraisal of a heart op on a postage stamp? stop googling and answer the posters questions not a load of ill informed tat you researched (googled) saddo

lol, you pleb.ukmarine1 wrote:well in this all encompassing summary wheres the economy data? wheres the cost implications? not everybody just goes and revs the ass off the car in mcdonalds you know How can you summarise what you haven't posted before ? a summary of what? if you worked in the nhs we could have a clinical appraisal of a heart op on a postage stamp? stop googling and answer the posters questions not a load of ill informed tat you researched (googled) saddo
Fact is, vpower is proven to increase hp on a charged motor so you're wrong.
On a nasp motor other than its cleaning properties it's not worth using.
Anyway, I'll continue using vpower, those running a remapped car, I suggest you do the same.
Re: Shell V-power
I'm not a moderator on this forum, but if I were I'd be asking you both to cool down a little. Not sure if ukmarine is trying to start a war or not (see the pun there?
), but I don't think slagging each other off is the best way to answer the OP's questions.
On another note, I do enjoy a good rip up of banter, so here's my two penneth......
R1's are for wannabe's, get a Hyabusa turbo and I'll be impressed.
Anyone who uses V-power on a low powered NA car is wasting their money.

Re: Shell V-power
I'm perfectly calm hence the lol! I'm not one for getting worked up over a forum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how wrong it is
I know the benefits of v power having run high power turbo engines for years, my polo only ever gets vpower, has done since the day it was new.
However, ukmarine clearly doesn't believe the benefits but that's his choice, he can get all worked over economy data if he pleases but well informed people don't use vpower because its cheap, they use it because its worthwhile in their chosen application.
