I've got a few of these, I'm good at the cheap mods

Replaced the gear gaiter with a thicker leather one, £7
as above, ebay metal dead pedal, £15
6R aerial £8
Wheel arch vents for the SMIC, £0
'Elephant hose' mod to vent the crankcase to atmosphere, £11

Re: any cheap and cheerful mods?
It reduces the amount of crap that lines your intercooler, pipework, EGR inlet manifold and even turbo. Many talk of the EGR being the culprit when really it's the work of both the crankcase vent (CCV) recirculating oil vapour and the EGR chucking in carbon creating that sticky black tar that clogs up EGRs etc. It's usually made worse if the owner drives sedately everywhere.greypolo9n3 wrote:nice one lads!!

This mod involves a 1m length of 19mm ID hose and a 25mm ID blanking cover, most use the rubber end caps for a walking stick or even bottle caps! It's a 5 minute job, you just unclip the existing 90 degree pipe, blank off the end near the TIP, fit the pipe to the other end on top of the engine and route it down the side and back behind the firewall to allow the vapours to vent to atmosphere. A ton of people have done it on Briskoda (practically the same engine) and had no problems.

The two jubilee clips show where the blanking point is and the fitting of the new vent hose.
