New Polo 9N3 1.2 E (2008)

Post by S11YBM »

Hi All,

Just purchased the above car and have a few questions....

1. Its fitted with a aftermarket air filter (a mushroom type one) , I'd like to replace it to the factory one, wheres the best place to get the OEM air filter housing?

2. Also noticed that there is no engine cover, does this model come with a engine cover....if it does, does it house the air filter?

Thanks

This is a Mk7 and not a Mk4 (VW call it a Mk4, but by enthusiasts its Mk7 ;) ) so ive moved it for you.

You are correct, for this model the airfilter is housed inside the engine cover. The crankcase breather should also vent into the airbox/cover so I'm not sure whats happened to that when the aftermarket filter was fitted...

As to where to get one? I'd suggest a VW dealership but could be quite expensive. Otherwise look for one being broken/scrapped or ebay is your friend.

Hope that helps :)

Should be at the front of your owners manual if you have one, a large sticker inside one of the front pages with all the car info on it. If you dont have a manual there maybe a sticker on the cambelt cover with the engine code on it (usually 3 letters).

Thanks the reg is : YA 57 JBY.

I'm thinking this model does not have the air filter in the engine cover..As it seems like the aftermarket filter is resting in some kind of box on the left of the engine....I'm thinking thats where the OEM air filter should go....

hi,
I went through all this a couple months ago and boy it was hell trying to find the right enfine cover as mine was missing too.....
First find your engine code to find if its a 1.2 6v or 12 Valve....the 6valve has nothing to do with the air filter housing and its just a cover.

If its a 6 valve then yours would be like mine and your engine code should be BMD.....

if you look you should have three ball joints coming from the engine cover which the grommets on the engine cover go into. you might have two and it might be missing the third as mine was.....

should your setup be like mine then PM me and i will send you the right part numbers and bits you need..

faz.
