I've got a 9n Polo Sport 1.4 (100BHP) which has the standard suspension for this model. Does anyone know if the springs on the car will be different to standard ones on all 9n models?
I'm looking to lower it but need to know if the springs are any different to standard models so I'm not dropping it by more than intended.

about 90% of the time sport models have slightly lower springs than standard models usually 10-15mm or so, so there is a chance yours is already a tiny bit lower. All that means is that unless specifically stated by the spring manufacturer/brand you go for that theyre for sport models, then technically they will only lower yours by for example 40mm-15mm so in reality 25mm.
I probably could have worded it a lot better but hopefully you get the idea.

Yeah I think I know what you mean. Whats the best way to find out whats already on there?

Cheap coilovers not a better option? Can adjust the height to whatever you want then

Also a good shout, some cases probably better to go coils so you know the shocks wont bottom out making the ride waayy too bouncy.
As for finding out whats on already theres a VW option/build code list somewhere on the web. And you just need to look at the sticker thats in the service book or the boot which has the list of 3 digit codes, one of them will be your suspension code. Otherwise on flat ground you could measure your arch to floor height and one that you are sure isnt a sport (could be a little bit off as springs settle a little over the years and tyres being at different pressures/tread wear can all make the few mms difference)
