VW Polo 1.2 Moda

Post by LoveTheVAG »

Hi everyone

Got my Polo a month ago, suggestions on simple mods would be good.

Going to get my standard alloys powder coated black soon, and I want to get some whiter headlights etc. and pedal covers. Suggestions for what ones to get would be good :)

Anyway, here she is....

Thanks for that.. I might get the little chrome steering wheel insert as well! Looks nice 8)

Anyone got any ideas where to get a chrome exhaust tip? Mine is a down pipe hidden under the bumper at the moment...

I've got a downpipe mate :/ I think I might just leave it as it might look takky if I put a trim on the downpipe.

Got a quote from VW to spray the alloys, £390. Anyone on here had a reasonable quote from them? I don't want to lose my warranty if i get them powder-coated elsewhere...

Hi Tony,

The Audi exhaust trim will be cause the same issue if you have a downpipe. IMO it is probably best not to get a trim due to the exhaust being placed more central than normal (which looks silly with the trim on).

However if you want to get a trim then these may do the trick:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DOWNWARD-ANGL ... 2568e273bd

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/STAINLESS-STE ... 3a7ebb16cf

The genuine VW part number I beleive is: 6R0071910A (not 100% on that - check with your dealer)

Wire them in to the courtesy lights if you want them to come on when you open the door.

Hi all,

Have not really done a lot yet (will have to wait for insurance purposes :( ), however I bought some SMD sidelights. I have fitted these to my previous cars (vw fox  and a mk5 golf 8) ) and it was pretty easy! Now I look at the Polo's lights and it looks as though on one side I will have to take the battery out!

Anyone fitted these before and want to give some tips? The sidelights themselves seem to be a massive pain to get out even on the side the battery does not obstruct :/

Thanks in advance guys :)

Tou will probably have to pop out the headlight to get to them... pretty easy, just the 2 torx screws on the top and remove the harness from the headlight and some force to get it out - at first it won't feel as if it would pop out but it.

Ok so I fitted one of the sidelights and it didn't look right with the standard yellow bulbs. I have now ordered some MTEC super white bulbs to see if these match up with the sidelights! (anyone used these before? I've seen mixed reviews on them to be honest so I'm not sure if they're any good :? )

Meanwhile I put the LED's in as number plate lights - which looks good :D

So hopefully throughout the course of this week I should receive all my interior LED's and my new headlights :) Will do pics when they are all fitted!
