Colour coded de-locked handles...and other misc bits!

Post by cyhliu »

Collected my newly sprayed colour coded de-locked door handles, rear black VW badge and...air freshener cover last weekend from JBS...looks the mutts nuts! They are going to be the shiniest bits on my car...when I get them on after the car is returned to me from the dealer...

Keep looking at the handles in the light (how sad!) it's so cool how there are pigments of red, green and yellow in the paint! Proper wicked!

Arrgghhh, right, where do I start I had a right palava over these handles...

I bought them from VAG-parts (see section in the forum) for I think around £12 each...this was after I had received the wrong ones and had to return them, basically you need the rear door handles of a five door model. I have seen them on Ebay, a pair for £10 so saving you some money there already!

I managed to get a cheap can of VW spray from Ebay, some chap had used a quarter and I got the rest and a a touch up pen set for £2.50!

My first attempt at spraying was appalling...spoke to Josh and he said that he would have a go for me too...so had to buy another spray set from VW, this time at £12 I think, did a good job of one of the handles but the other turned up the same...air bubbles galore!

Spoke to James at JBS, looked at them and laughed! He did those for me at £80 (because work was required to remove the existing paint) and said that if there was any other bits I needed I could get them done for the same price (hence the air freshener cover and black VW badge).

So in all it has been a grand tour of a ride getting them...probably spent a hell of a lot money had I not just bought the damn handles and taken them straight to James/JBS! I would recommend it though, unless you are confident about spraying yourself, the paint job is top job and looks like it has just come straight out of the factory!
