Exhaust

Post by Piers0930 »

Hello Guys

I have a 1.0 polo at the moment and about to do an engine conversion, we have just got the engine out tonight and i knew that the gti has 2 lamda sensors, so we have the cat.

But the GTI exhuast we got on the donner car has rotted out.

Is the 1.0 exhaust any different to the GTI after the sensors? Will i loose performance/sound?

Cheers x

The 1.0 exhaust is only 38mm whereas the GTI is 50mm

You will create a high back pressure which will choke the GTI block - I would under no circumstances use a 1.0 exhaust on a GTI

Your best to get a used cat and a stainless exhaust for the GTI

Alternatively, a TdI exhaust for center and rear will fit.

Alright okay, what is your thoughts on going and getting an back box?

I'm hopefully getting some BBS Rm's for my birthday in june, and i don't think it will suit the rear end of the car with an exhaust, as it may look a bit tatty or chavy if you know what i mean?

At the start i will get a K&N panel filter, making it sound a little bit more beasty.

Dont get me wrong i to like to phat exuhast pipes that are like a semi circle.

I guess the Lupo gti exhaust it nice, can you fit these onto Polo's

Youll need a center section and rear section

Lupo GTI one wont fit as thats designed for the center of the bumper as opposed to the left

A stock GTI or TDI one should do the job nicely.

I had the same issue when chosing my exhaust.

I ended up getting a custom Powerflow exhaust from Top Gear Aylesbury. I just asked to have exactly the same style as before (hidden behind the bumper) but with a nicer tone.

Didn't end up too loud at all, just noticable and its Stainless which is a benefit. Its also tucked up a lot neater than the standard as well and came in at £310, roughly £80 cheaper than anything off the shelf after-market wise.
