Shanghai VW brought out an armrest for the Polo 9n, getting it delivered to the UK and through customs doesn't make it cheap though. Beijing Polo on here will help you out if you ask, great guy.

It's the closest you'll get to the real deal and a bolt-in fit with no wobble. The ones Chewy linked are fitted with self-tappers and inherently won't be as sturdy.
The golf mk4 armrest is essentially the same apart from the lower mount. If you knew someone handy with metal you could probably modify the golf bracket or fabricate a new one to make it sturdy. I imagine the trickiest bit would be cladding it so it looks OEM. If you were to try it you'd no doubt be the first to fit one in a 9n.
